Minneapolis Date Ideas

Minneapolis is a city with many different activities and a wide variety of places you can take your date.  This part of the website is continuallyminneapolis sculpture garden great start to a date growing and I am adding stuff weekly to help daters find the best place to take their dates, whether it is on a first date, or one of many dates you want to make sure you have a great day/afternoon/evening planned.  I know a lot of people visit this page looking for first date ideas and if you are one of them, I would suggest you check out the dating category over on the left column to find some excellent ideas.  Also remember that much like the rest of the GoMinneapolis.net site, the dating section has a ton of  ideas and things to do on the right and left hand columns.  So as you are reading down the middle keep an eye out for what other options are out there to make a great date in Minneapolis.

I will be putting together some very good lists of things to do an d a few different itineraries that will work for specific seasons and then also ones that will work out any time of the year so people can use to plan a wonderful date.  Keep reading below for different things about dating in the Minneapolis area.  Also, on the left hand column in categories you can also see what posts are available under the Minneapolis Date Ideas Category.

Three Great Scenarios For A Great Night Out In Minneapolis

Not every man is able to remember and plan an anniversary date in advance…. I know this because I always find my self planning last minute dates and things to do on special occasions, like anniversaries.  My first instinct, especially on short notice is to check out the internet and try to put something nice together in a short period of time.  Let’s face it, there just isn’t always time to plan ahead.  So, I put together a few Minneapolis date ideasthat you just might want to follow if you need a good idea on short notice.

The Centennial Lakes Park in Edina will serve as a great way to start your date.  The park is 24 acres with a beautiful walking path as well as ponds and lawn bowling.  A nice walk through the park to the pond where you can take you date on a paddle boat ride which will give you a good amount of time to talk and spend time with each other, while doing a fun activity.  Once you’ve paddled through the ponds, take a break and eat at Cucumbers restaurant which is located directly next door to the park.  Cucumbers offers great food and a nice atmosphere.  When you’re done eating you can catch a movie at nearby Edina Cinema on W 50th St.

The next idea I will present to you begins at the Minneapolis Sculpture Garden.  This place is outside so if the weather isn’t agreeing with you, you just might want to head in doors to the Walker Art Center which is only a stones throw from the Sculpture Garden.  If you have time maybe you will see them both.  No matter what route you go, all of the new and interesting things you see are a sure fire way to start some interesting conversations while you share your evening together.  Once all that art makes you hungry, all you have to do is head a bit further down Hennepin Ave, right into the middle of Uptown, which has a very wide range of restaurants.  If you aren’t real familiar of what’s there you might want to check that out but for starters you can try Amazing Thailand, Delights Of India or Chino Latino, all serve great food and have wonderful atmosphere.

The third scenario would be to take your date out to one of the premier restaurants of Downtown Minneapolis.  Minneapolis is home to many popular restaurants rated among the best in the country, and then to the theatre for a live show.  I would recommend Ichiban if you are a fan of sushi, otherwise another recommendation would be Ruth’s Chris Steakhouse which offers quite possibly some of the best steak available.  When your bellies are full you can sit down at one of the four Hennepin Theatre Trust stages.  The Hennepin Theatre Trust is known world wide and plays show quite frequently so you will be sure to find a show time and date to work around your schedule.  Enjoy the show!

That’s three more ideas to throw into the ring.  If these ideas aren’t your style, I hope that maybe they at least sparked some different ideas that you and your wife may enjoy more.  Either way, now you know of a couple different Minneapolis date ideas that you can use if you choose.  Whatever it is that you decide to do on that special day, make sure your wife knows you love her and make sure you choose something that you will both enjoy… especially her!

Three Tips To Making A First Date A Successful Date In Minneapolis

So, you are reading my article because you are about to ask someone out for a date, or you already have and now you are trying to figure out a good way to impress that lucky lady.  I can’t tell you everything and I don’t know everything, but I can tell you what I know.  There are a few things that can be done to make a first date more enjoyable, and hopefully a little less awkward.  Just remember, you can read every single dating tip on the internet, but no matter what you do on a first date is be honest and be yourself, if it was meant to be those two things will get you a long ways.  Read on and hopefully you’ll learn something new about Minneapolis date ideas, or at least maybe jog your memory a little bit.

Make a good first impression.  I know that can mean a lot but think about it, a first date is basically an interview to see if you can go on more dates.  Don’t sell your self short, make sure you arrive on time to wherever your meeting place is, and don’t forget to shave and take care of your regular hygienic duties.  Being late to your date creates extra stumbling blocks and hang ups, but being on time makes for a smooth, easy start for your date.  Also, remember to keep a smile on your face and keep eye contact with your date.

Have a basic Itinerary.  I am not saying to make a strict itinerary to make exact plans of where you will be and what you will do, simply just have an idea of where you want to go and how much time you’ll need.  It always helps to call in advance or check out the internet to find times and prices.  The ultimate goal here is to not create any hang ups or problems along the way, surprises are not always a good thing on a first date.  So make some calls and do a little research so you don’t end up struggling with where to go or what to do.

Make good conversation.  There is nothing that is more awkward than, you guessed it, awkward silences.  If you are not much of a conversationalist, or don’t have a lot of experience talking with new people, prepare your self with some topics of things you can talk about.  I have always had a real easy time talking to “strangers” and striking up a good conversation.  Now this last part goes without saying, making good conversation does include listening and acknowledging what your partner in conversation is saying to you, so pay attention in case there are any pop quizzes.  This is also the part where being your self comes into play.

Well, I hope you maybe take some of what I said into consideration and give it a shot, it never hurts to try, right?  Like I mentioned at the start, I don’t know everything but I definitely wouldn’t steer ya in the wrong direction.  I wish you good luck on your date and if you need some ideas on where to take your date, you should definitely learn as much about Minneapolis date ideas as you can.  So remember, be honest and be yourself and that way you will know for sure if the person you are taking on a date is compatible with you.

Minneapolis attractions help daters break the ice and melt the heart!

minneapolis date ideasWhen on a first date most couples freeze up and choose the stereotypical drinks, dinner or even more awkward a movie. None of which give couples an opportunity to get to know more about each other in a relaxing and carefree environment. A first date is the first chance two people have to get to know one another and see if there is a mutual connection and potential for further dates. That said you want to put your best foot forward and find something unique and exciting to warm things up and have some fun. Look no further than Minneapolis attractions for a memorable first date.

To make it not just memorable but also personal find out what their interests are and then pick a destination that supports those interests. While you may want to jump at the first chance you get to take them out hold off and wait for the weekend. A weekend date gives you more time to spend with each other and spending an afternoon at a Minneapolis attraction will provide you with just the ice breaker you are looking for.

If your date is playful and likes animals then check out the Minnesota zoo in Apple Valley, just a twenty minute drive from Minneapolis. Catch a spectacular dolphin show and check out the world renown tiger exhibit. The zoo is not only chock full of animals it also has several walking trails where you can stroll along and get to know one another better.

If your date is carefree and spontaneous then take an impromptu trip through the Minneapolis Art Institute. Get lost among the hundreds of paintings, sculptures and artifacts while finding out more about each other. The museum houses famous paintings and timeless pieces of art, that will leave you speechless and full of things to say all at the same time!

If you can not picture the two of you gazing at abstract paintings in an art museum then maybe the Science Museum of Minnesota would be a better fit. Not only will you find exhibits to explore but also ones you can interact with, each giving you opportunities to learn new things together.  The museum also holds limited exhibits through out the year providing guests with a new and fresh experience each time they visit. Before you leave check out the Omni Theater schedule and drop the hint for a second date!

Choosing a date full of fun and adventure is a great way to start things out. It not only shows you put thought into the date but also that you are serious about getting to know the person you’ve asked out. These locations are just the tip of the iceberg when it comes to exploring Minneapolis attractions. There are so many more attractions that will provide you with ideas for future dates, and while a first date at the zoo can break the ice a third one can melt the heart.
